Water Activities in Wicklow

Whether you want to spend day cruising around Blessington lakes or you want to get on the path to becoming a sailor yourself Avon Rí has the package for you. Avon Rí Lakeshore Resort has a number of boats available for daily hire or for use on accredited training courses.

The following boats are available at the resort :

Hunter 707 Keel Boats

The Hunter 707 is like a small yacht with a cabin, these boats can be used for match racing or just for a relaxing day out. If you are racing them you may need some wet clothes, but these boats are used for a relaxed half or full days sailing on the lake. There is no need for wetsuits and you can bring a picnic if your group likes. Your skipper can also give a history tour of the lake before and after the flooding. Your skipper can do all the sailing or your group can help out.

Water Activities Wicklow

The Hoby 16 & 18 Catamaran's

These Cats are fast and can be a wet ride, but lots of fun. They require some sailing experience to sail them, or you can go for a joy ride with your Instructor. We will get out on the wire or the trapeze which is where the real fun begins.

Wicklow Sailing

Hoby 405's

The Hoby 405 is a single hulled boat, with a single trapeze and an asymmetric spinnaker. This makes the boat ideal with people who wish to learn new seaman ship skills. These boats can be a wet ride so wetsuits are required.

The Topper

Toppers are a single hull, single sail boat which makes it a great boat to learn the art of sailing in. These can be a wet ride, but once you get used to sailing they are quite forgiving. Being single handed boats each sailor gets more time on the helm.

Sailing sessions can run for 1.5 hours, a half day, a full day, a weekend, evenings or a week.

Cost will depend on the number in a group, the length of time required, the skill level etc.

  • 1.5 hours = €35
  • Half Day = €60
  • Full Day = €100

Sailing courses :

Here at Avon Ri we offer a number of different courses to suit all levels of experience. All our courses are run to Irish Sailing Association standards and all our instructors are fully qualified.
