Course Angling season is open from November to the end of September with stocks of roach, perch and pike been caught. The Brown Trout season is only open from March to the end of September. The lake is stocked with about 10,000 brown and rainbow trout each year.
At Avon Rí we have a number of fishing boats for hire with 4hp or 5hp engines which can be hired for a half day, full day or a week.
The lake is the largest reservoir (4,000 acres) in Ireland. It has 50 miles of shoreline with many inlets and bays which offer the angler excellent coarse and pike fishing. The lake is controlled and managed by the Electricity Supply Board (ESB) and a permit for all types of fishing is required (these can be purchased at Avon Rí).
